A KANGAROO Flat man has been charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of amphetamines following a series of raids at Victorian properties.Andrew John McNaughton, 46, was one of three men swept up in warrants executed by the Petra Taskforce, Office of Police Integrity, and the Ethical Standards Department on Wednesday.Police said they discovered $120,000 in cash, a handgun, and chemicals intended for the manufacture of amphetamines, at McNaughton’s High Street unit.Handcuffed and wearing a dark hooded jumper, McNaughton fronted Bendigo Magistrates Court yesterday morning. He was not required to enter a plea to 11 offences, all alleged to have occurred after November last year. The charges relate to incidents in Kangaroo Flat, Bulla, Clydesdale, Preston and Mildura.Defence lawyer Peter Baker said there would be no application for bail.During the raids investigators also located uranium and a substantial amount of chemicals and glassware in a storage facility at Harcourt.Officers say the warrants were executed as part of ongoing investigations into the leaking of confidential police documents, and admit confidence that they have smashed a well-organised drugs syndicate.McNaughton was remanded in custody and ordered to reappear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on June 25 for a committal mention.
