Red roses still the top choice

Red roses still the top choice

14 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
Red roses are again the favourite flower for this year’s Valentine’s Day, with Bendigo florists run off their feet.

Bloom ’N’ Gifts owner Robyn Cavender said the traditional favourite was still the most popular.

“Red roses are the obvious favourite for people buying flowers,” she said.

“White roses and tulips have also been popular.”

Ashley Rogerson, owner of The Green Lily, agreed, saying that lovers couldn’t go wrong with a bunch of red roses.

“There have been no unusual orders, everyone usually goes for the red rose,” she said.

Devoted couples have also shared their love with tributes in the classifieds section of the Bendigo Advertiser.

This year, there have also been a few peculiar messages.

One asked, “what’s for dinner?”, while another said “I can’t wait to touch and smell your hair”.
