SES crews are in Quambatook and Echuca today preparing for floods.
Houses, tennis courts and a football oval close to the Avoca River in Quambatook are likely to be impacted when the river reaches its peak on Friday.
Incident controller Wayne Grincais said SES crews were in Echuca and Torrumbarry to work on "forward planning" for flooding, which could occur after high inflows from the Goulburn River.
Mr Grincais said SES volunteers were leaving Charlton and Donald today.
"Most of the planning now is focused on the Goulburn River from Shepparton to the Murray,'' he said.
Mr Grincais said authorities thought the Avoca River would peak at 2.4 metres just out of Quambatook.
"The river will extend its current shape in the town but we don't think the township will be heavily impacted,'' he said.
More to come.
