THE head of Victoria’s biggest regional employer expects his company will have a long future in central Victoria.Don KR Castlemaine managing director Stuart Grainger yesterday escorted Danish Crown Prince Frederik through a $300 million new processing plant.Mr Grainger introduced the prince to staff as they toured through a new factory that features Danish machinery and technology. Gallery: Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik in Castlemaine“One of the reasons (Prince Frederik) came is because of the scale of investment we have made here,” he said.“The total investment here is in the total of $350 million and creation of 350 new jobs.“It is the most advanced plant of its kind in Australia and that is something we would like people in our community to be proud of.”The company employs more than 1200 people in Castlemaine.Prince Frederik spoke with Danish suppliers as he toured through the new factory.He inspected Danish pumps and spoke with the importers of Danish meat, which arrives in Australia frozen.Danish government representatives also joined the prince during his tour.Mr Grainger said the visit reflected the close ties between Denmark and his company.He said he expected the business would continue to thrive from its central Victorian base.“I think our (high employment) is a good thing for the community and good for regional Victoria,” Mr Grainger said.“And long may it last.”
