Police seek witnesses to Kangaroo Flat fire

06 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
POLICE have called for witnesses following two fires at Kangaroo Flat.

Detective Senior Constable Andrew Heazlewood of the Bendigo Criminal Investigation Unit said the two fires happened within hours of each other.

The first was on a roundabout at the intersection of Lockwood Road and Olympic Parade at 11.10pm on Saturday.

The second fire involved the nature strip outside the Aldi supermarket between 9am and 9.30am yesterday.

Detective Senior Constable Heazlewood said he hoped the driver of a vehicle with a bob cat on a trailer would come forward with information about what he saw.

He said the driver had to move his vehicle to escape the fire.

“If anyone saw anyone running away at the time, or anyone starting a fire, can they please contact police,” Detective Senior Constable Heazlewood said. “They can contact Bendigo police on 5448 1300.”

Two Country Fire Authority appliances responded to the roundabout fire, which they promptly brought under control.
