THE search to find pet galah Bob a new home is over - and owners Max and Alice Francis may have found more than a good life for their beloved bird.
They have found a new friend in Les Allen.
The Spring Gully resident and his daughter and granddaughter will welcome Bob into their household after a long search to find the talkative bird a suitable abode.
Bob was found in a neighbour’s backyard, and initial attempts by the Francises to find Bob’s owners failed.
Before moving into a retirement village this month, they had a second try at tracking them down.
The story was published in The Advertiser on December 16.
Les contacted the couple and was chosen from a dozen respondents as the man most likely to give Bob the attention and love his keepers desired.
“I really like animals,” he said.
“I used to have a galah and a rosella.”
He will also adopt the couple’s pet rosella, X, because they did not want to separate the pair.
“As soon as I met them I knew we’d be able to help them out - the feeling was mutual,” Les said.
Max and Alice found it hard to say goodbye to the bird, which helps with the gardening and talks almost like a person.
“They will always be welcome for a visit and a cuppa,” Les said.
