Medical condition causes driver to lose control

01 Dec, 2009 08:22 AM
A HORSHAM woman who lost control of her car because of a medical condition miraculously survived a horrific accident yesterday.

The woman was freed from the destroyed hatchback more than 30 minutes after she crashed into a tree on the Bendigo-St Arnaud Road about 10.15am.

She suffered a fractured pelvis and possible arm fractures and was taken to Bendigo Hospital.

The 65-year-old woman was then transported to The Alfred hospital.

Senior Constable Mick McCrann said the woman seemed to have lost control of the car while negotiating a bend near the intersection of Wilsons Hill Road.

“Police are investigating, but we believe speed was not a factor, and a medical condition caused the driver to lose control,” Senior Constable McCrann said.

“Police won’t be taking action against the driver.”

The road was down to one lane for 90 minutes after the accident, which occurred about 1km west of the Calder Alternate.
