Loddon flood warning issued

07 Sep, 2010 11:55 AM
The SES has issued another major flood warning for the Loddon River.

The Loddon River downstream of the Loddon Weir is at more than six metres with stream rises expected to start at Appin South during the coming days. A forecast for when the river will peak is yet to be issued.

Meanwhile, stream levels in the Loddon catchment to Laanecoorie Reservoir peaked at the weekend and water levels are now below minor flood levels and still falling.

A strong cold front is predicted to hit Victoria from Thursday and is expected to sweep across the state on Friday morning.

The SES is advising farmers to move machinery, secure livestock and ensure all family members and neighbours are aware of updated warnings.
