THE Defenders of the Tooth gang have held up a Strathdale Childcare Centre and demanded that children change their dental ways.Waterboy, Munchgirl and Brushboy visited the centre along with dental clinicians and students as part of Dental Health Month.Children and their parents got advice on food, looking after teeth, the first visit to the dentist and how to access oral health services.Bendigo Health acting dental manager Robyn Lindsay said research showed that dental decay in children had risen in recent years, compared with the 1990s."It is important to reverse this trend as soon as possible."The Australian Dental Association and Bendigo Health Community Dental Services believe that by educating parents, teachers, carers and children now, we can prevent these rates rising further in the future.”The health promotion was a collaboration between Bendigo Health, La Trobe University and Strathdale Childcare Centre.
