HARCOURT’S Applefest is back - and it’s set to be better than ever.
The festival committee is aiming to put the town back on the map this year and has hired operatic group Quattro Voci as the headline to this year’s festivities.
Applefest organiser Paul Mizzi said it was all about showing the community’s confidence in the apple industry.
“It’s traditionally for the locals, but we want to transform it and present Harcourt on the wider map,” he said.
“It’s also to improve confidence in our apple community and to try and push improved sustainability during the global financial crisis and water problems.”
Other festivities include a FReeZA event for 10 to 18-year-olds, the annual art show, a photography
competition and a street market.
Harcourt Idol will make a comeback, as will the annual fun run.
Premier and Harcourt Apple Pie Eating Competition patron John Brumby will officially open the 19th Applefest on March 6.
Other highlights include the fun run, ferret races and live music at the Harcourt Tavern on March 7.
