Flora Hill servo will close

16 Dec, 2005 10:41 PM
THE Flora Hill Service Station will close next week, but its owner does not want it to be the end of driveway service in Bendigo.

Rad Eltchelebi has operated the service station for 13 years, and built up a strong relationship with many of his customers.

"I've been here since 1992, and I want to say thank you to all the people who supported me in the past," Mr Eltchelebi said.

While many have stayed loyal since the fuel discounting began, Mr Eltchelebi has still been losing 50,000 litres a month.

"I can't keep working 11 hours a day to keep my head above water."

He had signalled his intention to close in September, but there was interest shown in continuing the business as a going concern.

However, that deal has fallen through, and Mr Eltchelebi expects fuel to run out at the end of next week.

"What I'd like to see is some service station operate a driveway service one day a week," he said.

"If someone takes the initiative it would be very well appreciated."

People looking for nearby driveway service providers can visit the Mobil service station in Carpenter Street between 10am and 4pm on Monday to Friday, or the Ampol service station in McCrae Street between 8am and 10.30am.
