Driver swerves as bird swoops

25/07/2008 9:24:00 AM
A MOTORIST in his late 60s who swerved off a main road to avoid a bird was transported to Bendigo Hospital with minor injuries yesterday.

The incident happened about 2pm on Gladfield Road - 6km west of Pyramid Hill - when the man was driving towards Kerang.

Pyramid Hill police Leading Senior Constable Jason Brady said the man lost control of his vehicle when he swerved to miss a bird that flew across the windscreen.

An ambulance was called to the scene after the man complained of numbness in his legs.

Leading Senior Constable Grady said the man's vehicle crashed into some boxthorn, which prevented it from rolling over.
