THE Coodabeen Champions roadshow rolled into Maldon on Saturday for their much-anticipated outside broadcast.
Maldon Football-Netball Club President Andrew Gray said the event was a huge success.
“It was really well received; we actually saw people from the town who have probably never really seen the footy ground before,” he said.
“It created a good atmosphere and it was a good monetary wish for us and gave us good exposure.”
Mr Gray said the big winner was the kiosk, which saw record sales - the bar also had a healthy day out.
“In all honesty there were a lot of people there until 1pm when they finished broadcasting, who then left.”
But the Coodabeen Champions did not disappear and stuck around, adopting Maldon as their team.
“They were as good barrackers as our own people,” Mr Gray said.
Coodabeen Champion Ian Cover said he would now be reading the weekend papers to check Maldon’s results.
Unfortunately for the Coodabeens, the home team went down to Avoca, 83 to 71 in the top of the table clash.
The ABC legends took advantage of the AFL-free Saturday to soak up the action in the Maryborough-Castlemaine Football League.
