Celebration time for museum

11 Jul, 2011 04:00 AM
GOOD times continued at the Golden Dragon Museum at the weekend.

Celebrating 20 years of operation, the museum has treated the community to a number of visual delights in recent months.

Yesterday, the Bendigo Chinese Association Plum Blossom dance team performed at Dai Gum San.

The monthly performances are free, courtesy of a grant from the Community Foundation of Bendigo and Central Victoria, along with Bendigo Stadium.

As I have on previous occasions, I congratulate the Chinese community for what they have achieved with the Golden Dragon Museum.

The question still begs, why is there not a dedicated museum in a regional city of the size and historical significance, as Bendigo, for the Bendigo Historical Society to have their large collections of heritage, historical and cultural items on display. Plus other relevant facilities.

Federal and state governments should be chipping in to address this most unsatisfactory situation.
