THE Screaming Jets, Angry Anderson and Kate DeAraugo are just a few of the big names lined up for the Bendigo Says Thanks free concert.Organising committee chairman Keith Sutherland said the concert, to be held on Sunday next week at the Bendigo Showgrounds, was a way of saying thanks.“It’s a way of thanking people and giving recognition in particular to the unsung heroes who put their lives on the line to save many houses on Black Saturday.“This is an event for their families and people touched by the disaster.“An open invitation goes out to the workers and volunteers - including CFA, DSE, police, ambulance, SES, St John, Red Cross, Salvation Army, council staff and all others who gave their time and energy to help those affected people.”Other performers are Diesel; the Choir Boys; a supergroup featuring Kevin Borich, Normie Rowe and John Swan; and Paulini and Emily Williams. The local bands Ethanol, Stricklands, Darkcircle, Grinners and Balls n All will also entertain the crowd. The overwhelming support from artists has meant the original starting time of 2pm has been brought forward to 1pm, with gates opening at noon.“We’re proud to say this will be a drug-free and alcohol-free, family-friendly event,” Mr Sutherland said.“Bags will be checked on entry and there will be a strong police presence to ensure that everybody has a great day.”
