FOUR Bendigo businesses are vying for Asia Pacific business excellence awards.
Tim and Kylie Gentle, of Design Experts, lead the way with three nominations.
Ms Gentle is nominated for the Young Entrepreneur award, while the business is vying for Faster Growing Business with less than 50 staff, and Best Overall Business with less than 10 staff.
Mr Gentle said nominating for the awards had helped the business reassess how it was travelling.
“It is really important to step back, check how you are going, and realign,” he said.
“It is also nice to see how you stack up against the rest of Australia.
“Kylie is nominated for the Young Entrepreneur award and she is the quiet achiever, she works behind the scenes.
“It is great that she is being acknowledged for her work. I would not be where I am today without Kylie.”
Glen Loddon Homes is vying for two awards; Most Community Impact and Best Overall Business with less than 50 people.
Chris Ryan, who co-owns the business with Glenn Wade, said the nomination was nice recognition for his business. “We are excited,” he said.
“It is nice to be recognised for the effort that we have put in to improve the business and make it as strong as possible.”
Professional and domestic cleaners The Green Clean Team are up for Most Innovative Company and Best Overall Company less with than 50 people.
Owners Sandra and Michael Turnbull work closely with the Department of Human Services and Haven to holistically help clients.
“It can be very traumatic for some people to part with their belongings,” Mrs Turnbull said.
“We get together with agencies to formulate a plan.
“You have got to want to do this work and have got to have empathy for these people.”
Landscaper Danny Wells’ company Groundswell is also nominated for Best Turnaround Company and Best Overall Company with less than 50 people.
The four businesses receive coaching from Bendigo’s Paul Henshall.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony on the Gold Coast this weekend.
