MEMBER for Bendigo East and Victorian shadow minister Jacinta Allan is expecting her first child.Ms Allan and her fiancé, Yorick Piper, announced the pregnancy to family and friends this week.The couple, who will marry in January, yesterday said they were thrilled to be expecting a baby in April.Ms Allan plans to continue in her parliamentary role and will share the care of her newborn with Mr Piper.“We are looking forward to sharing the care for our child, as I continue my role as the Member for Bendigo East,” Ms Allan said.“I am sure many Bendigo working families will be a great source of advice on this front.”The news caps off an exciting year for Ms Allan and Mr Piper, who announced their engagement after holidaying in the Galapagos Islands, South America, in January.Ms Allan became the youngest woman elected to the Victorian parliament at the age of 25, in 1999.A senior minister in the former Brumby Labor government, Ms Allan is now the ALP’s manager of opposition business and shadow minister for regional and rural development, bushfire response and roads.
