MEMBERS of the Bendigo Art Gallery will be treated to a special preview of the upcoming Grace Kelly: Style Icon exhibition.Bendigo Art Gallery director Karen Quinlan announced yesterday members would be invited to view the exhibition from 10am to 2pm on March 10.“This will be prior to the official launch and is in light of the fact that not all members can attend this special occasion,” she said. The Bendigo Advertiser reported yesterday the exhibition opening had reached “fever pitch”.The exhibition opening booked out in just three hours on Thursday.Tickets are, however, still available to Grace Kelly: Style Icon exhibition.“It’s just the official opening that’s booked out,” Ms Quinlan said.“There has never been a response like this.“It’s important that we point out this is an exhibition that has been organised by the Bendigo Art Gallery in association with various stake holders including the state government, the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco and the Victoria and Albert Museum.“And as such, there are a number of major stakeholders involved. Gallery membership has grown, we have about 1500 members, and while their support is important to the gallery, the capacity of events such as the exhibition opening is about 600 people.”New royal Princess Charlene of Monaco will visit Bendigo next month to officially open the exhibition. Grace Kelly: Style Icon will be at the Bendigo Art Gallery from March 11 to June 17.“We’ve already sold about 7500 tickets,” Ms Quinlan said.“It’s going to be great for the city.“It’s fantastic.”
