CRUSOE College students in Kangaroo Flat will settle into new classrooms when they return for term three on Monday. Two years of work on the $23.5 million school rebuilding project wound up this week with only minor finishing touches left before classes resume for the new term.Principal Ben Johnstone-McCloud said students and teachers were excited about the new look.Until now they’ve been working out of temporary classrooms from the 1960s.“When students go to school on Monday they will go into a completely new school,” he said.“There are brand new classrooms, new furniture.“There are specific areas for computers, the performing arts, instrumental music, a gymnasium, hospitality kitchen, global learning centres.”Mr Johnstone-McCloud said students were excited about the new school, while teachers were also looking forward to changes in the ways students could be taught.“It can’t help but improve attitudes and feelings,” he said.“It will provide opportunities for us to deliver a more personal approach for our kids rather than one size fits all.“This will give us much greater outcomes ... this is a more student-centred approach.” All students in years seven to 10 will move into the new school on Monday.“There’s one more stage to come with demolition of the old buildings on the site and a new sporting ground project for the new school,” he said.Member for Bendigo West Bob Cameron has already toured the site and said the new school was fantastic.“It’s very spacious and the large learning areas will be great for students and staff,” Mr Cameron said.“It will help create a whole new culture for the school.”
