THE Anglican Archbishop of Melbourne, Dr Philip Freier, has finished a whirlwind four-day trip to central Victoria.

The Archbishop yesterday met clergy and various leaders in Bendigo.
“Part of my role as the Archbishop of Melbourne is to have a relationship with the other Anglican diocese in Victoria,” he said.
Dr Freier said he was asked to visit the diocese by the Anglican Bishop of Bendigo Andrew Curnow.
“It is not a part of Victoria that I had been to before so it was good to learn about some of the changing circumstances in some of the small rural communities and see how the Anglican Church is seeking to continue its ministry in those areas,” he said.
Dr Freier said he visited Charlton on Sunday, a town which was severely damaged in the January 2011 floods.
“The church reopened in Charlton after all the floods they had,” he said.
“It was good to see the change and to have people back on their feet.”
While in Bendigo, Dr Freier also visited the Faith in Fashion exhibition at The Capital. Exhibition curator Hugh Elphinstone said he was honoured to have the Anglican Archbishop of Melbourne visit the exhibition.
“It is the first time such a collection has been on public display and I’m sure the first time the Archbishop will have seen many of his colleagues’ vestments,” he said.
Dr Freier said he was very impressed with the exhibition. “I have definitely learned some things that I didn’t know about,” he said.
“Seeing some of the garments that people in my role would have worn years and years ago is fascinating.”
The Faith in Fashion exhibition is on display at The Capital until June 17.
