DESCENDANTS of the Lansell family have visited Bendigo from England during the Easter Festival.
The group toured the iconic Fortuna Villa and visited Lansell vault, and enjoyed the wide range of Bendigo Easter Festival attractions.
“We thought we’d visit during Easter, because there’s lots more for the kids to do,” Lottie Fenton said.
“It’s been wonderful.”Lottie last visited Bendigo 30 years ago.
The group members are descendants of Audrey Lansell, the eldest daughter of Sir George Lansell.
Duncan Crawford said he was particularly fond of Fortuna Villa, and he hoped the historic mansion would be given to the people of Bendigo.
Mr Crawford said the ornate rooms and majestic gardens of the Golden Square property would be perfect for a variety of uses, including opera recitals and picnics.
“It’s such a beautiful old building,” he said.
“It will be lovely if it is used by the community.”
