AN Office of Police Integrity investigation is continuing over four Maryborough Police officers accused of covering up an assault in Maryborough two years ago.Former Maryborough leading Senior Constable Paul Taylor was this week convicted of hiding evidence from the Office of Police Integrity. Taylor pleaded guilty in Bendigo Magistrates Court to hindering the OPI investigation and hiding evidence that could have incriminated a fellow officer in the alleged assault of a Maryborough man in 2010. Taylor was suspended from police duties with full pay and fined $5000. The magistrate said it may have resulted in a prison sentence if it weren’t for Taylor’s guilty plea. Maryborough Police Senior Sergeant Paul Huggins said Taylor, and three other officers, who were suspended in June 2010, were continuing to be investigated.
