NOT HAPPY: Grace, Jessica and Olivia Murley with the ransom note left for their family after their Frosty the Snowman decoration was kidnapped from their Eaglehawk home.

THE strange disappearance of Frosty the Snowman is a Christmas mystery of comedic proportions. The Murley family of Abbey Court, Eaglehawk, returned home last Friday night to find their prized Christmas decoration had been kidnapped. “We were horrified,” mum Sarah Murley said.“Then when we came inside and checked our email, we found the ransom note.”The note, conventionally constructed of cut up newspaper headlines, read: “Meet our demands or the snowman gets it.” It featured an image of a man in a balaclava holding a toy gun to Frosty’s head.“The kids are pretty devastated,” Ms Murley said. “We’re worried about him melting, the poor thing.”But so far no harm has come to the snowman. In fact, since Friday the kidnappers have been sending photos of Frosty at various locations around Bendigo.“Apparently he’s in really good hands,” Ms Murley said.“He’s been motorbike riding, go-karting, he’s been to the White Horse hotel for a few beers, he’s watched a cricket match, and I think he’s even played a round of golf.“We are getting photo updates from the kidnappers daily. But we’re still not sure how much they want for the ransom.”While it’s all fun and games now, Ms Murley said the family was very protective of Frosty, their only Christmas decoration.“A friend of ours is a senior constable and if it gets ugly he’s happy to take it further. The police might get involved,” she said.“We hope he’s back by Christmas eve, but who knows, he could turn up anywhere.“If people want to keep an eye out for him, he’s a metre and a half tall with a carrot for a nose, he’s green and white, and he only weighs 500 grams.”- Know more?
