High steaks for new Bendigo restaurant

23 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
Bendigo couple Paul and Danielle Pitcher have made their dream of opening a restaurant a reality.

Last night the pair opened their own steak house, called The Woodhouse.

Paul has been cooking for 22 years in both Bendigo and Melbourne and decided it was time to do his own thing.

“I have done a lot in my career, and my wife and I wanted to put our own stamp on Bendigo.

“We really hope people enjoy what we put out,” he said.

The new Williamson Street restaurant is all about cooking with wood, with all the steak cooked on a wood char grill.

“We are a steak house, Bendigo’s only steak house I believe. We are using top quality meat and local produce,” he said.

The restaurant is aimed to cater to everyone.

“People can come in for a gourmet wood fire pizza and a beer or they can come and have Sher Wagyu marble score eight scotch fillet, which will be like nothing they have ever had before,” he said.

The passionate chef said the food on the menu is reasonably priced for top quality meat.

“We are using the better quality produce but it will be at an affordable price for the people that want to have a good night and enjoy our atmosphere.”

The Woodhouse is located in the building formerly known as the Jolly Puddler and The Puddler.

Decor looks great. Similarly name and means of cooking steak. Be interesting to find out location of restaurant.

Best wishes to the couple with their restaurant.

Nice article and great to see a new and different restaurant opening in Bendigo. My only question is - where is it located? Contact details?

Good Luck for your new venture - but it would be great if an address had also been supplied for this article.

The Woodhouse is situated in the former Jolly Puddler and The Puddler restaurant building in Williamson Street.

Thanks editor Rod for clarifying location. The building is ideally suited for a high quality restaurant, as both Jolly Puddler and The Puddler were.

Tuck in and eat more Australian produce Aussies!

One trap for new smallbusinessmen and women can be that the White Pages website can take a fair while to list new telephone numbers.

This can result in lost business, yet the proprietor does not know this.

Yes, thanks to editor Rod for clarifying the telephone number. It's vital in the current economic climate that businesses from Bendigo Addy to new restaurants and others have every chance at either continuing or initial prosperity.

I hope this restaurant is not too adversely affected by Australia's high weekend penalty rates. Rest. & caterers' association want these changed.
