6/10/2008 | SEVEN people were arrested after an unruly mob turned on CFA volunteers at a weekend BMX event at Strathfieldsaye. Police were forced to use capsicum spray after enraged BMX enthusiasts hurled bottles and assaulted CFA members called to douse a burning car at the Club Court Reserve just after 5pm on Saturday. Otis reaches hearts and minds
6/10/2008 | THE Otis Foundation hosted an open day at its Bendigo retreat properties yesterday as part of the organisation's fifth birthday celebrations. Commemorations included a speech from founder Andrew Barling and a performance by the Women of Note choir, while the Strathfieldsaye Lions Club provided a sausage sizzle and other groups with a close relationship to the Otis Foundation - including Dragons Abreast, the Valkyrie Group and Landcare - hosted displays.

Mayor David Jones said the Coman Trail had come about after a request from Strathfieldsaye and District Community Enterprise.
Centre opens doors
6/10/2008 | SENIOR Citizens Week festivities kicked off with the opening of a new $800,000 aged care activities centre in Kangaroo Flat on the weekend. The activity centre is behind the existing Kangaroo Flat Senior Citizens Centre in Lockwood Road and features spacious new activity rooms, kitchen facilities, dining room, new toilets, office and storage rooms, as well as an outdoor garden and courtyard.

6/10/2008 | MORE than 800 friends and family crowded into the Connect Church on Saturday to bid their own kind of farewell to Bendigo man John Parsons, who disappeared in Hawaii a month ago. Despite almost three weeks of intense searching of rugged jungle on the Island of Oahu, no trace was found of the 77-year-old, who left for a four-hour hike on September 4.
