Posted: 15 Mar 10 | NO ONE really cares about pre-season football, do they? Just like no one really wants to be premiers in March, a full six months before the business end of the proper season. No one, that is, except the success-starved Western Bulldogs and their loyal legion of long-suffering fans on the eve of the NAB Cup grand final. | CommentsComments (0)
Posted: 28 Feb 10 | TODAY marks the end of an era in this city. For the past 32 years, local children who dreamed of defying gravity have flipped, twisted and turned their way to fun, fitness and even fame at the Bendigo Gym Centre in McCrae Street. But for members of the club that has regularly produced national tumbling champions and counts Olympic diving gold medallist Chantelle Newbery among its alumni, the final cartwheel has been turned and the last somersault landed at the present site. | CommentsComments (0)
Posted: 04 Dec 09 | WHAT does the Federal Liberal Party have in common with the Richmond Football Club? Well, after the tumultuous events of this past week, there would seem to be an almost endless list of similarities between these two old establishments. Posted: 20 Nov 09 | IMAGINE the scene: one minute, you’re inside a private house enjoying a small party with close friends; the next, you’re being dragged over the fence and rammed head-first into a concrete pole. Your only crime was to ask a group of drunken gate-crashers to leave the premises and - after they initially refused then pulled a fuse out of the power box on their way out, plunging the house into darkness - you stood in the front doorway blocking them from re-entering. | CommentsComments (0)

This week, Telstra bowed to public pressure and dumped its $2.20 administration charge for people paying phone bills by post or over the counter. | CommentsComments (0)
Posted: 23 Oct 09 | SOMEWHERE out there is a new bride who is missing some important personal reminders of her big day. It appears that Alisha married her sweetheart, Grant, in or around Bendigo last Saturday afternoon. In all likelihood, the happy couple had some of their wedding photos taken in Pall Mall, outside the Bendigo Law Courts and Old Post Office buildings. | CommentsComments (0)
Posted: 09 Oct 09 | HOW outrageous is it that little girls are donning bikini-style underwear sets, putting on lip gloss, painting their fingernails and strutting around with handbags hanging off their arms? Are you spluttering in disgust at the thought of such child exploitation, or are you, like me, struggling somewhat to see what all the fuss is about? | CommentsComments (2)
Posted: 25 Sep 09 | IF you have children aged under seven, or care for someone else’s, you need to read this story. Even if you just occasionally pick up some little ones from a crèche, kinder or primary school as a favour for a friend, this may well affect you. | CommentsComments (3)
Posted: 11 Sep 09 | FORGETTING party politics for a moment, it was hard not to feel slightly sorry for Senator Steve Fielding after his performance in front of the cameras this week. | CommentsComments (1)
